a DIY weekend: t-shirts

This weekend my two best weekend buddies were gone. I took mom to the airport at 5 am to meet dad in Cuba which meant that my Sonic buddy was gone all day Saturday and Mister had to work at a radiothon for the news channel and then cover the Real Salt Lake game at night time so I decided to fill my time with lots of deep cleaning, catching up on the laundry and LOTS of DIY projects. I told myself I couldn't DIY until the house was cleaned which didn't sound very fun so I started out the morning with a nap. Good choice. Once I finally woke up I cleaned the house and started on some new shirts for the Mister and his little brother. I had seen a picture of this somewhere and thought I'd try it out for myself.

The shirts are thrifted for $1 each! I love that story. I have such a whale fascination so I had to start with a whale shirt in honor of us seeing several whales in real life when we were in Hawaii. I was so excited to cross that off of my bucket list.
Mister just got a new orange watch so he OBVIOUSLY needed a shirt to match :)
Mister's little brother specifically asked for a shirt featuring the Gorillaz. For those of you who don't know who they are, they are a band. I am embarrassed to admit that I didn't know who they were so I had to do a little research.
It is so great to be able to grab a cheap shirt, print out a silhouette, grab a spray bottle full of bleach and make a new, unique shirt! Be sure to wash the shirts by themselves after bleaching. Happy creating!
